Karibuni sana wadau! Namkelekile! Wherever you are, I welcome you to this space.

I'd like to briefly introduce this forum as a place of sharing and learning that is free and open to all. After all, the wells of knowledge we acquire are but tools we must continue to build upon and then pass down to others. Taking the persona of the Afreecan, I will dictate most of the thoughts I have surrounding music and it's links to sociocultural and even economic discussions here. This shall be a place to share and to reflect on the things I have learned and continue to learn, the questions and ideas that continue to emerge and most of all, the knowledge from many others who are much wiser and serve as teachers. As you follow the path drawn by the Afreecan, I truly hope you may connect with the footprints that will serve as lessons and as bases for discussions on the topics of music in Africa today. Broad as is the term -music in Africa today- there is certainly much to elaborate and build upon. There is also the African condition today which forms a big part of the conversations to be had from here forward. I encourage you to hop on this ride, as we aspire to reach greater heights of understanding!

I'm very thrilled and look forward to share more with you all. Till then, I remain.

Sincerely yours,

The Afreecan.
